BPAG Accountants is rated 5.0 from 107 Google reviews.

The Adelaide team brings deep experience in SMSF work and primary production alongside everyday business tax, built up over many years of looking after the same families and their businesses. That continues. What's new is that three more offices now stand behind them.

What changed when PBS became BPAG?

Mergers usually mean clients get shuffled around. That is not what happened here. Here is the honest breakdown.

What has not changed What is new
The same person. The accountant who knows your family, your fund and your business still answers when you ring. More specialists in-house. Business structuring, asset protection and fractional CFO work are handled within the firm.
The same phone number. (08) 8351 0510 still rings this office, and 1300 272 422 reaches every BPAG office. A team behind your file. Your work doesn't stop because one person is away.
The same office. 685 South Road, Black Forest. Easier paperwork. Questions by SMS or email, answered from your phone; documents signed without creating an account.
Fixed pricing. You know the fee before we start. Cover across Australia. Offices in Sydney, Melbourne and the Canberra region if you expand or your children move interstate.

Who does the Adelaide office look after?

The Black Forest office looks after clients in Black Forest, Goodwood, Unley, Mile End, Glenelg, Adelaide's inner south and west, the Adelaide Hills and regional South Australia. A lot of the work happens over email and video anyway, so being close by is a bonus rather than a requirement.

Many clients here have been with the practice for many years: families with a business, a self managed super fund and often a farming or property interest, now thinking about passing it on.

Our SMSF work is general information and fund administration. Advice on whether to set up or wind up a fund, and on contributions, pensions and insurance, comes from a licensed financial adviser, and we work alongside them. If you're weighing up a fund, our SMSF guide is a good place to start.

Not sure whether your fund, farm or business needs more than a once-a-year visit? Ask us and we'll tell you what we'd look at first.

Which South Australian taxes should Adelaide businesses watch?

South Australia's state taxes have a few quirks that catch people out, particularly people who have owned property in other states. Figures below are as published by RevenueSA.

Land tax: the 30 June snapshot

SA land tax is worked out on the land you own at midnight on 30 June each year, not 31 December as in NSW and Victoria. Your home is generally exempt. For 2026–27, there's no land tax on total taxable site value up to $936,000; above that, the rate starts at 50 cents per $100 and steps up through four bands (RevenueSA land tax rates and thresholds).

Two practical consequences:

  • Settlement timing matters. An investment property you own at midnight on 30 June is counted in the assessment for the year starting 1 July, so settling on 29 June rather than 1 July can bring forward a year of land tax.
  • Ownership matters. SA assesses land differently depending on whether it's held by you, jointly, by a company or by a trust. Land held by a company you control isn't added to your individual assessment, though related companies can be grouped together.

Stamp duty: residential and primary production land only

Since 1 July 2018, SA charges stamp duty on transfers of residential and primary production land only; duty on other land, such as commercial and industrial property, has been abolished. On residential land, the top rate is $21,330 plus $5.50 per $100 above $500,000 (RevenueSA rate of stamp duty). Eligible first home buyers of a new home, an off-the-plan apartment or land to build on pay no duty, with no price cap for contracts from 6 June 2024. Foreign buyers of residential land pay a 7% surcharge.

Payroll tax

SA payroll tax doesn't apply until Australia-wide taxable wages exceed $1.5 million. Between $1.5 million and $1.7 million a sliding rate applies, and above $1.7 million the rate is 4.95%. Related businesses can be grouped and share a threshold. Our payroll tax guide compares SA with the other states.

Watch out: Primary production land is still within the stamp duty net in SA. If you're moving farmland between family members or into a family entity as part of succession, cost the duty, CGT and land tax together before anything changes hands.

Our South Australian duty and land tax agent works through the detailed SA rules for a specific property or payroll question. Your accountant checks the result against your facts before we advise you.

How does working with BPAG Adelaide work day to day?

BPAG is an AI-native accounting firm: we work on one platform, Nagaris, where AI agents draft the routine work and a qualified accountant reviews and signs off everything. If you've been with the practice a long time, here's what you'll notice:

  • Less posting and scanning. Questions arrive by SMS or email; you reply from your phone and send a photo.
  • One signature for the family group. One engagement covers your companies, trusts, SMSF and personal returns, signed once on your phone with no account to create.
  • ID checks from home. Through your bank (ConnectID) or a photo ID and selfie.
  • Nothing lost. Calls and meetings are written up and filed, and the whole team can see your file.
  • Your data in Australia. Client data is stored on AWS Sydney servers, and every action is timestamped.

If you'd rather ring or drop in, that still works.

"We have been with BPAG for almost a year now and have felt significant improvement with the business, our own knowledge and motivation… BPAG are by far the best." — Veronica Thomas, Google review

Frequently asked questions

Is PBS Accountants & Advisers still operating?

PBS Accountants & Advisers is now BPAG Accountants. The same team works from the same office at 685 South Road, Black Forest, and (08) 8351 0510 still rings them, as does the national number 1300 272 422. Your work carries on as before.

Are PBS Accountants and BPAG Accountants the same firm?

Yes. PBS Accountants & Advisers was one of the five firms that joined forces to form BPAG Accountants. If you searched for PBS Accountants in Adelaide, this is the same team under its new name, with your records and history carried across.

Will my SMSF still be looked after by the same people?

Yes. The team that prepared your fund's accounts and returns still does. We prepare the financial statements, member statements and annual return, and coordinate the independent audit with an approved SMSF auditor. We don't audit funds ourselves.

Do I need to do anything because of the change?

No. If you were a client before, you're a client now. At your next engagement you'll get one engagement covering your whole family group, signed on your phone without creating an account.

Can the Adelaide office help with property or a business interstate?

Yes. We work with clients Australia-wide, and BPAG's offices in Sydney, Melbourne and the Canberra region know those states' payroll tax, land tax and duty from day-to-day work.

What does BPAG charge in Adelaide?

The same fixed packages as every office: Compliance Essentials from $149 a week, Business Insights from $249 and Fractional CFO from $499 (all plus GST). For SMSF work, ask us for a fixed quote. We agree the fee before we start.
