Our registration and the TPB Register
The Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) maintains a public register of registered tax agents and BAS agents. It shows each practitioner's registration details and any conditions, suspensions, terminations or sanctions on the public record. You can access it free at myprofile.tpb.gov.au/public-register.
How to search it: open the register, enter a practitioner's name or registration number in the search box, and select their entry to see their details. The TPB's help using the TPB Register page explains the search options.
| Registered entity | Type | TPB registration number |
|---|---|---|
| BPAG Accountants Pty Ltd | Company, tax agent | 26334214 |
Each of our advisers who is an individual registered tax agent is listed with their own TPB number on our team page.
How to make a complaint
If you're unhappy with a service we've provided, please tell us first so we can fix it. Email mail@bpag.net.au with "Complaint" in the subject line, or call 1300 272 422. A partner who wasn't involved in your work will review it, keep you informed, and give you our response in writing.
You can also complain to the Tax Practitioners Board, at any time, whether or not you've complained to us first. Complaints to the TPB must be made in writing using its online complaints form. The TPB explains what to include and what happens next on its complaints page. If your complaint is about a privacy matter, you can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Our obligations to you
As registered tax agents we must comply with the Code of Professional Conduct in the Tax Agent Services Act 2009 and the Tax Agent Services (Code of Professional Conduct) Determination 2024. In plain English, we must:
- act honestly and with integrity, and lawfully in your best interests
- comply with the taxation laws in the conduct of our own affairs
- keep your information confidential, unless you consent or the law requires us to disclose it
- have arrangements in place to manage conflicts of interest
- take reasonable care to ascertain your state of affairs and to make sure the taxation laws are applied correctly to your circumstances
- provide our services competently, within the timeframe we agree with you, and keep our knowledge and skills up to date
- not knowingly obstruct the proper administration of the taxation laws, and not make false or misleading statements to the ATO or the TPB
- tell you about your rights and obligations under the taxation laws that relate to the services we provide
- keep proper records of the tax agent services we provide to you
- maintain professional indemnity insurance, supervise our staff and any outsourced providers, and run a quality management system
- tell you about the matters on this page
We also have obligations to the ATO and the TPB that we can't contract out of. If we become aware that a false or misleading statement has been made, or that you've made an error, we must advise you about it and about the consequences of not correcting it, and in some situations we must notify the TPB or the ATO about significant breaches of the Code.
Your obligations to us
To let us do our job properly, you need to:
- give us all relevant information, completely and on time, and make sure it's true and correct
- tell us about any change in your circumstances that could affect the work we're doing for you
- keep the records the taxation laws require (generally for five years) and provide them when we ask
- respond to our requests and meet the due dates we agree, so we can lodge on time
- not ask us to do anything that would breach the taxation laws or our Code
You are still legally responsible for the information in returns and statements lodged on your behalf, so please review what we prepare before you approve it.
